Week 34A Discussion – IUIC: Q and A in THE MIA
You Sure You Want To See The Day Of The Lord??

  • Amos 5:18 [Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! to what end is it for you? the day of the LORD is darkness, and not light.]

  • Woe means destruction

  • Many of the people who say that they want the Lord to come are not living righteously and do not completely understand the judgement that He will bring upon His return.

  • Even our forefathers did not desire to see that day.

  • Habakkuk 3:16 [When I heard, my belly trembled; my lips quivered at the voice: rottenness entered into my bones, and I trembled in myself, that I might rest in the day of trouble: when he cometh up unto the people, he will invade them with his troops.]

  • Isaiah 64:6 [But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.]

  • Even after we have repented and have begun keeping the commandments, it is still seen as a filthy rag in the eyes of God.

  • 1 Peter 4:17-18

  • 17 [For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?]

  • 18 [And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?]

  • The righteous will barely make it in. We can be doing everything possible to put in our brick, but that is still scarcely enough to be saved.

  • 1 Corinthians 10:11-12 [We must examine ourselves and determine if we are really doing enough.]

  • The apostle Paul did not have the amenities that we have today such as faster travel with airplanes and automobiles. He got to a point where he did not even go back to his own home because he was too busy traveling spreading the gospel. And even with all the work he put in, Paul is not exempt from 1 Peter 4:18.

  • 11 [Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.]

  • Admonition (Merriam-Webster) 2. counsel or warning against fault or oversight

  • Synonyms: advice, guidance

  • 12 [Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.]

  • We must examine ourselves in order to catch and fight against temptation as it comes and not be too proud and think we are good as we are, and do not prepare for it.

The Description of the Day of the Lord

  • Revelation 14:20 [And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs.]

  • This is the description of the destruction to come. There will be so much blood that it will seem to flood.

  • Isaiah 63: 1-4

  • [Who is this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this that is glorious in his apparel, travelling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save.]

  • [Wherefore art thou red in thine apparel, and thy garments like him that treadeth in the winefat?]

  • He is asking why are Christ’s clothes red.

  • [I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none with me: for I will tread them in mine anger, and trample them in my fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will stain all my raiment.]

  • The red that was on Christ’s garment is blood.

  • [For the day of vengeance is in mine heart, and the year of my redeemed is come.]

  • 1600 furlongs = 200 miles (Google)

  • Christ is fighting all the nations at one by himself.

  • Isaiah 47:3 [Thy nakedness shall be uncovered, yea, thy shame shall be seen: I will take vengeance, and I will not meet thee as a man.]

  • The Jesus that we have been taught is nowhere near to what is actually written. Christ is coming back for destruction and to put down rebellion. We must even discipline our thoughts because He can read them. Whatever that is ordered for us to do, we will not have a choice.

  • 2 Thessalonians 1:7-8

  • [And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,]

  • [In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:]

  • Film:Independence Day

  •

  • Zechariah 14:12 [And this shall be the plague wherewith the LORD will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth.]

  • This is describing the power of a thermonuclear fire.

  • Film: Terminator 2-Judgement Day

  •

  • Isaiah 5:18-19

  • 18 [Woe unto them that draw iniquity with cords of vanity, and sin as it were with a cart rope:]

  • 19 [That say, Let him make speed, and hasten his work, that we may see it: and let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel draw nigh and come, that we may know it!]

  • Those that continue to sin are also the ones that want Christ to quickly return. The sinners on the outside do not know of the destruction to come, but we on the inside should walk circumspectly (be careful to consider all circumstances and possible consequences).

  • 2 Peter 1:10 [Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:]

  • 2 Esdras 7:42-43

  • 42 [He answered me and said, This present life is not the end where much glory doth abide; therefore haue they prayed for the weake.]

  • Some of the people that come in and leave after much time believe that serving the Lord is very restricting on their own dreams because of the laws that would have to be broken to get where they wanted to be. Once we have learned this truth and the prophecies that have come to pass, we cannot just forget what is to come.

  • Film: The Middle Passage

  • A slave ship could take between 25 and 90 days to reach its destination.

  • A lot of the people who refuse to repent or go back into the world put the glory of this world over the glory of God and His word. They want what the world can give them and are willing to sin in order to get it.

  • 43 [But the day of doome shall be the end of this time, and the beginning of the immortality for to come, wherein corruption is past.]

  • The Day of the Lord = The Day of Doom

  • Psalms 91 [We must pray that the Lord will deliver us from the destruction.]

  • If our salvation is based on our own righteousness, then no one would be saved.

  • 2 Esdras 9:7-9

  • [And euery one that shalbe saued, and shalbe able to escape by his works, and by faith, whereby ye haue beleeued,]

  • We must keep the commandments as well as have works.

  • [Shall be preserued from the sayd perils, and shall see my saluation, in my land, and within my borders: for I haue sanctified them for me, from the beginning.]

  • Those that have both faith and works shall be saved in the Day of the Lord.

  • To see the salvation is to be delivered from the destruction to come.

  • The individuals that are to be saved have been chosen from the beginning.

  • [Then shall they be in pitifull case which now haue abused my wayes: and they that haue cast them away desspitefully, shall dwell in torments.]

  • Just keeping the commandments is not considered our works because that was supposed to be done already. The whole reason we were created was to keep God’s law.
