Adulterers and Fornicators God Will Judge Pt.2

  • Genesis 39:7-12

  • [And it came to pass after these things, that his master's wife cast her eyes upon Joseph; and she said, Lie with me.]

  • Women can also get a spirit of lust on them.

  • [But he refused, and said unto his master's wife, Behold, my master wotteth not what is with me in the house, and he hath committed all that he hath to my hand;]

  • [There is none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?]

  • When you commit fornication and adultery, you are sinning against God. We must have the same state of mind as Joseph to fight off satan whenever and wherever we are tempted.

  • 10 [And it came to passas she spake to Joseph day by day, that he hearkened not unto her, to lie by her, or to be with her.]

  • Josephy had to fight off the temptation daily (at his workplace), which many brothers have to learn to do in order to not get judged for commiting sin.

  • 11 [And it came to pass about this time, that Joseph went into the house to do his business; and there was none of the men of the house there within.]

  • You should never find yourself alone with a woman who is not your wife, especially a married woman. This is not only to prevent the opportunity of adultery from forming, but also to prevent accusations which is what happened to Joseph.

  • 12 [And she caught him by his garment, saying, Lie with me: and he left his garment in her hand, and fled, and got him out.]

  • This is an example of fleeing sin as you would a snake.

  • There will be consequences for committing adultery. Even if you are forgiven, there is still a judgment.

  • 2 Samuel 11:2-17, 26-27

  • [And it came to pass in an eveningtide, that David arose from off his bed, and walked upon the roof of the king's house: and from the roof he saw a woman washing herself; and the woman was very beautiful to look upon.

  • 5 [Gaze not on a maide, that thou fall not by those things, that are pretious in her.]

  • The history of our forefathers shows us what we should and should not do as well as the consequences for our actions.

  • [And David sent and enquired after the woman. And one said, Is not this Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?]

  • At this time, when David had known she was married he should have ended it there. But because he had entertained the sin in his mind, the lust was heavy on him and he was not able to resist.

  • David had allowed the spirit of satan to control his body and the Lord had to intervene with His prophets in order for David to see the errors of his ways.

  • [And David sent messengers, and took her; and she came in unto him, and he lay with her; for she was purified from her uncleanness: and she returned unto her house.]

  • Bathsheba was not innocent, she was willing in this matter and possibly have been enticing David because of her own lusts.

  • According to the law, both she and David was to be put to death because she did not cry out, meaning she went along with it.

  • Deuteronomy 22:23-24 [23If a damsel that is a virgin be betrothed unto an husband, and a man find her in the city, and lie with her; 24Then ye shall bring them both out unto the gate of that city, and ye shall stone them with stones that they die; the damsel, because she cried not, being in the city; and the man, because he hath humbled his neighbour's wife: so thou shalt put away evil from among you.]

  • [And the woman conceived, and sent and told David, and said, I am with child.]

  • [And David sent to Joab, saying, Send me Uriah the Hittite. And Joab sent Uriah to David.]

  • [And when Uriah was come unto him, David demanded of him how Joab did, and how the people did, and how the war prospered.]

  • [And David said to Uriah, Go down to thy house, and wash thy feet. And Uriah departed out of the king's house, and there followed him a mess of meat from the king.]

  • [But Uriah slept at the door of the king's house with all the servants of his lord, and went not down to his house.]

  • Uriah was loyal to his brothers that were at war.

  • The affair with Bathsheba was about lust and not love which is why it was so easy for David to have Uriah go back to his wife and try to get him to raise a child that was not his. At this point, David had seemed to forget that there was a God.

  • 10 [And when they had told David, saying, Uriah went not down unto his house, David said unto Uriah, Camest thou not from thy journey? why then didst thou not go down unto thine house?]

  • 11 [And Uriah said unto David, The ark, and Israel, and Judah, abide in tents; and my lord Joab, and the servants of my lord, are encamped in the open fields; shall I then go into mine house, to eat and to drink, and to lie with my wife? as thou livest, and as thy soul liveth, I will not do this thing.]

  • 12 [And David said to Uriah, Tarry here to day also, and to morrow I will let thee departSo Uriah abode in Jerusalem that day, and the morrow.]

  • 13 [And when David had called him, he did eat and drink before him; and he made him drunk: and at even he went out to lie on his bed with the servants of his lord, but went not down to his house.]

  • 14 [And it came to pass in the morning, that David wrote a letter to Joab, and sent it by the hand of Uriah.]

  • 15 [And he wrote in the letter, saying, Set ye Uriah in the forefront of the hottest battle, and retire ye from him, that he may be smitten, and die.]

  • 16 [And it came to pass, when Joab observed the city, that he assigned Uriah unto a place where he knew that valiant men were.]

  • 17 [And the men of the city went out, and fought with Joab: and there fell some of the people of the servants of David; and Uriah the Hittite died also.]

  • David tried to cover his sin with more sins. When a lie did not work, David resorted to murder.

  • Isaiah 30:1 [Woe to the rebellious children, saith the LORD, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin:]

  • 26 [And when the wife of Uriah heard that Uriah her husband was dead, she mourned for her husband.]

  • She is mourning, but she is also at fault of her husband’s death.

  • 27 [And when the mourning was past, David sent and fetched her to his house, and she became his wife, and bare him a son. But the thing that David had done displeased the LORD.]

  • Even though Bathsheba was complacent to the act, the Lord dealth with David because he was the leader.

  • 2 Samuel 12:1-11

  • [And the LORD sent Nathan unto David. And he came unto him, and said unto him, There were two men in one city; the one rich, and the other poor.]

  • [The rich man had exceeding many flocks and herds:]

  • [But the poor man had nothing, save one little ewe lamb, which he had bought and nourished up: and it grew up together with him, and with his children; it did eat of his own meat, and drank of his own cup, and lay in his bosom, and was unto him as a daughter.]

  • [And there came a traveller unto the rich man, and he spared to take of his own flock and of his own herd, to dress for the wayfaring man that was come unto him; but took the poor man's lamb, and dressed it for the man that was come to him.]

  • [And David's anger was greatly kindled against the man; and he said to Nathan, As the LORD liveth, the man that hath done this thing shall surely die:]

  • [And he shall restore the lamb fourfold, because he did this thing, and because he had no pity.]

  • When you are dealing in the spirit of satan, it will make you move in such a way that you do not care about brothers and sisters.

  • [And Nathan said to David, Thou art the man. Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul;]

  • Matthew 7:2 [For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.]

  • [And I gave thee thy master's house, and thy master's wives into thy bosom, and gave thee the house of Israel and of Judah; and if that had been too little, I would moreover have given unto thee such and such things.]

  • David already had many wives, but it was the lust that lust that brought in covetousness for another man’s wife.

  • David was a king with dominion over Israel, but was willing to give it all up over lust for one woman.

  • 1 Esdras 4:13-27 [Zerubbabel explaining the strength of women to the king of Persia]

  • 26-27 [26 Yea many there be that haue run out of their wits for women, and become seruants for their sakes: 27 Many also haue perished, haue erred, and sinned for women.]

  • [Wherefore hast thou despised the commandment of the LORD, to do evil in his sight? thou hast killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and hast taken his wife to be thy wife, and hast slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon.]

  • 10 [Now therefore the sword shall never depart from thine house; because thou hast despised me, and hast taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be thy wife.]

  • Even though God forgave David, there was still a judgment for the sin that he committed. However, we are not like David, so God may just put us to death or make us suffer for that sin for the rest of our life by strife or disease.

  • Ecclesiasticus 9:12 [Delight not in the thing that the vngodly haue pleasure in, but remember they shall not goe vnpunished vnto their graue.]

  • God will judge us in this life and the future to come for the evil that we commit.

  • It is Christianity that teaches us that everything is good as long as we ask for forgiveness for our sin. In reality, there is always a judgment whether it comes immediately or later.

  • Ecclesiastes 8:11-13 [11 Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.12 Though a sinner do evil an hundred times, and his days be prolonged, yet surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, which fear before him: 13 But it shall not be well with the wicked, neither shall he prolong his days, which are as a shadow; because he feareth not before God.]

  • 11 [Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will raise up evil against thee out of thine own house, and I will take thy wives before thine eyes, and give them unto thy neighbour, and he shall lie with thy wives in the sight of this sun.]

  • Leviticus 19:18 [Neighbor means the children of Israel.]

  • It was not another nation, but David’s own son who took his wives.

  • Hebrews 13:4 [Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.]

  • If you come into this truth and still in a midst of sin, the Lord will judge you.

  • Deuteronomy 28:61 [Also every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, them will the LORD bring upon thee, until thou be destroyed.]

  • The Lord will put diseases on us for fornication and adultery.

  • CDC

  • Study: STDs Up Among Young African-Americans Black teens and young adults are at higher risk for STD infection. (BET)

  • Earlier this week the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released its most recent surveillance data for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) in the U.S.

  • What they found isn’t encouraging, especially when it comes to African-Americans. Researchers found that overall 20 million Americans were infected with some type of STD in the 2012 and that almost half of those affected were between the ages of 15-24.

  • Eloisa Llata, a CDC epidemiologist and the report’s co-author, told BET.com that these numbers have increased from 2011. “While chlamydia rates stayed the same, we know that syphilis was up 16 percent and gonorrhea increased 4 percent.”

  • Looking closer at the data for race, the numbers painted an even more daunting picture for African-Americans. According to the report, while Blacks account for 14 percent of the U.S. population, we account for almost two-thirds of all reported cases of gonorrhea, one-third for chlamydia and almost half of all syphilis cases.

  • We are supposed to be even more repentant after the judgement that the Lord has given us. We should not only ask for forgiveness for our sins, but also for the Lord to give us the strength to overcome our own lusts.

  • The fear of the Lord and His judgment is what keeps us from committing sin.

  • Deuteronomy 22:22 [If a man be found lying with a woman married to an husband, then they shall both of them die, both the man that lay with the woman, and the woman: so shalt thou put away evil from Israel.]

  • The judgment for adultery was death without mercy under the old covenant. Under Christ there is still a judgment, but there is a chance that the Lord does not kill you right away and allow you to repent. The Lord may just take his spirit away from you which is a spiritual death.

  • Matthew 19:9 [And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.]

  • At that time, the judgement for adultery was death, the bill of divorcement would not have been an option at that time.

  • John 8:3-7

  • [And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,]

  • [They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.]

  • She was caught in the very act.

  • [Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?]

  • The reason a woman was put away at that time was after she had been put to death.

  • [This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.]

  • They were trying to catch Christ to say that he was not following the law of Moses, because the judgement at that time was death. What was wrong with the situation, was the law states that both parties to the sin had to be put to death, but they only brought the woman to be judged.

  • [So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.]

  • Many of the younger brothers and sisters are caught up in fornication. They have easier access to media now that previous generations had a harder time to obtain.

  • Leviticus 21:9 [And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the whore, she profaneth her father: she shall be burnt with fire.]

  • To profane herself meant to have sex before marriage. The death was supposed to be used as an example to give others the fear of the Lord.

  • Hebrews 13:4 [Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.]

  • If you keep fornicating and committing adultery, God will judge you.

  • It is playing whoredom and a silly thought to believe that a repenting brother or sister can find a spouse out in the world and bring them in.
