Week 32A Discussion – Bishop Nathanyel
One Flesh One Body

  • One Flesh One Body deals with both marriage and leadership

  • Women want to be happily married, but their idea of happiness is based on what the media pushes instead of what God says with the scriptures

  • They are looking for a man who will bow down to them and do what they want. Or in some cases they are looking for an emotional man with feminine qualities such as wanting to share their feelings all the time.

  • Some women only know how to deal with a man sexually but are not able to perform the essential duties of a wife such as cooking and cleaning. These women are considered simple because they can lay with a man but still feel like he is not right for them.

  • Galatian 5:19-20

  • 19 [Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,]

  • Many women tend to work in the works of the flesh.

  • When dealing with adultery, some women do not care if you are married, while others prefer a man to be married because they see stability.

  • When a man steps out on his wife, he is giving the power over him to the other woman.

  • Some women can wait for years for a man to leave his wife, but sometimes that doesn’t happen.

  • Fornication is sexual immorality.

  • Uncleaness and lasciviousness also deal with sexuality.

  • Lasciviousness (Bible Study Tools) – Unbridled sensuality; excess

  • 20 [Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,]

  • It is a sign of hatred of the other woman when the one tries to turn you from your wife, and in some cases children

  • Hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, and strife

  • This deals with the women who are argumentative

  • When the woman is dealing with this, she tends to have to compete with her husband which can disrupt and possible destroy a marriage.

  • Variance (Google Search) – “Variance” is from the Greek word eris. This word is defined as “strife, discord, contention” (Arndt and Gingrich, A Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament, 309; hereafter, Arndt). Vine adds that it “is the expression of enmity”

  • The fact or quality of being different, divergent, inconsistant

  • An example is that whatever the husband would say, his wife would have something negative to say about it to go against her husband.

  • Synonyms: Disagreement, conflict, in opposition

  • Emulation (Google Search) – effort to match or surpass a person or achievement, typically by imitation.

  • Some wives just have the spirit of competing against their husband. This is considered out of order, because the husband is supposed to be the head of the house and she was created to be a help meet to him.

  • Wrath (Merriam Webster) – 1: strong vengeful anger or indignation

  • Wrath often times leads to seperation (with the ability to reconcile) and divorce

  • Strife (Google Search) – angry or bitter disagreement over fundamental issues; conflict.

  • Some wives get angry over basic things

  • Synonyms: conflict, friction, variance, hostility, controversy, ill feeling, a falling out

  • Some marriages last as long as they do because the husband gives his wife the preeminence. Cases like this tend to occur when the husband is afraid of confrontation. This is an American way of thinking where they make the women the boss and the men servants to them.

  • Some women become this way to get your attention off of doing the Lord’s work to pay them more mind.

  • Matthew 19:7-9

  • [They say unto him, Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away?]

  • [He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so.]

  • Israel began to put away their wives for anything that they did not like.

  • Divorce was not something that was done in the beginning.

  • [And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.]

  • If a man divorces his wife, except if she had committed fornication, and he marries another woman, he is guilty of adultery.

  • A wicked woman will use this verse as a way to destroy her husband by being evil except for sleeping with another and still feel that she is in the right. They are hoping that their husband has a moment of weakness and falls to sin.

  • In this chapter Christ is speaking with the Jews who were brought up in the law. This is why he used Moses to answer the question.

  • Paul dealt with the Gentiles who were not brought up in the law.

  • 1 Corinthians 7:15 [But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God hath called us to peace.]

  • There are cases when one spouse may not believe because this newfound faith has begun to cause problems in the marriage. If this happens, the unbeliever is permitted to leave the relationship if they choose to.

  • Ephesians 5:22-23

  • 22 [Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.]

  • When a woman refuses to follow this consistently, this is proof that they do not believe. Some women, especially newer to the truth, may be working on this. Those that actively go against the scripture are those that do not believe and are just deceiving their selves and others around them.

  • We see in Westernized/Caucasian societies that women are brought up to go against this. Other societies not following this influence still teach the women to submit to their husband.

  • 23 [For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.]

  • A husband must still be patient as both spouses are working on themselves and getting the Babylonian influence out of their minds.

  • It is the husband’s God-given right to command his wife as we must do what Christ commands of us.

  • All women submit to some man, in some cases it is not the husband but her work boss or someone of higher authority than her husband.

  • Our relationships today fit under 1 Corinthians 7:15 because we were not brought up under the laws of God.

  • Ezekiel 24:15-18 [If you desire your wife more than the law of the Lord she can be taken away from you]

  • Ecclesiastes 7:26 [And I find more bitter than death the woman, whose heart is snares and nets, and her hands as bands: whoso pleaseth God shall escape from her; but the sinner shall be taken by her.]

  • Some women only stay in the truth to find a husband, and when they do, they want all the focus to be on them instead of the work of the Lord.

  • The goal of some women is to trap you and they contemplate ways to get their way whether it be spiritually or financially.

  • Matthew 19:5-6

  • [And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?]

  • A brother must have a source of income to cleave to your wife. It is wrong and immature to look for a woman to take care of you.

  • Your wife’s mind should be according to your mind.

  • Sirach 7:26 [Hast thou a wife after thy minde? forsake her not, but giue not thy selfe ouer to a light woman.]

  • Do not marry an evil and stupid woman because that would be to your own detriment.

  • Those that let their wife run them tend to have a low self-esteem. This should not be so in Israel because the leadership is known before their wives are. The men are the prize in the relationship. The wives get the respect because of the work that their husbands have put in.

  • In these days, the majority of our men are either in jail, dead, or homosexuals.

  • 88 men to every 100 black women compared to 97 white men to 100 white women

  • According to the Sentencing Project, “African Americans are more likely than white Americans to be arrested; once arrested, they are more likely to be convicted; and once convicted, they are more likely to face stiff sentences. Black men are six times as likely to be incarcerated as white men.

  • Based on a study composed in 2017, the Economic Policy Institute reported that “more than two-thirds of all African American working mothers are single moms, making them the primary, if not sole, economic providers for their families.

  • Some of these same women will be looking for husbands to not feel alone, but since they are already making their own money, they do not feel like they need to listen to their husbands.

  • Isaiah 4:1 [And in that day seven women shall take hold of one man, saying, We will eat our own bread, and wear our own apparel: only let us be called by thy name, to take away our reproach.]

  • The difference between now and the kingdom, it that we will get seven times this. Even in captivity, the woman understand that she is here for her husband and not the other way around.

  • Reproach – Isaiah 3:16-17

  • 16 [Moreover the LORD saith, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet:]

  • Haughty – prideful, meanspirited

  • Walk with stretched forth necks – a busybody in everyone’s business

  • Wanton eyes – lustful eyes

  • The tinkling of the feet was from the ankle bracelets.

  • 17 [Therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the LORD will discover their secret parts.]

  • Their behavior as mentioned in the previous verse, as well as having children out of wedlock is a part of their reproach.

  • In western society, this behavior is glorified.

  • A woman who does not settle believes she is the prize in the relationship. Some even are older and have children by other men and still refuse to settle unless it is to their “dream” man.

  • A boy that does not know their father or is rejected by their father are called bastards, a type of reproach.

  • We are the only race that glorifies not being married and just having sex.

  • [Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.]

  • Genesis 17:5-8

  • [Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.]

  • Abraham means father of nations.

  • [And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.]

  • This is not speaking of all nations on the earth. Noah had 3 sons and Abraham is from the line of Shem.

  • Genesis 35:10-11

  • 10 [And God said unto him, Thy name is Jacob: thy name shall not be called any more Jacob, but Israel shall be thy name: and he called his name Israel.]

  • 11 [And God said unto him, I am God Almighty: be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall be of thee, and kings shall come out of thy loins;]

  • The nations that is spoken of came through Jacob.

  •  Revelation 5:10 [And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.]

  • Referring to the 12 tribes of Israel

  • [And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.]

  • The covenant is speaking of the Old Covenant which extends to the New Covenant. The old covenant was not made with all nations, but with those that came through Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

  • Hebrews 8:8-10

  • [For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:]

  • The Lord will make a new covenant with the 12 tribes of Israel

  • [Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.]

  • The new covenant will not be according to animal sacrifice which was taught to Israel by Moses when coming out of the land of Egypt.

  • When the Lord regarded us not, we went into slavery.

  • 10 [For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:]

  • The covenant does not include all nations on the earth.

  • The law is in our minds to obey them.

  • Only the 12 tribes will be a people to God. The other nations are nothing.

  • Isaiah 40:15 [Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing.]

  • Jeremiah 31:31-33 [A new covenant with the house of Israel]

  • Genesis 17:15-16 [To be one flesh]

  • 15 [And God said unto Abraham, As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be.]

  • 16 [And I will bless her, and give thee a son also of her: yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of people shall be of her.]

  • This is the same blessing that Abraham got because the two shall be one flesh.

  • All nations did not come out of Sarah, she just had Isaac. This is the line that the promises were given to.

  • [And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.]

  • The seed after thee is referring to the nation of Israel. The Israelites were also the ones that took the land of Canaan.

  • Genesis 18:18-19

  • 18 [Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him?]

  • Acts 3:25-26

  • 25 [Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.]

  • The Israelites are the children of the prophets.

  • 26 [Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.]

  • The gospel was first preached to the kingdom of Judah.

  • The blessing is Christ dying on the cross for Israel so that we can be forgiven of our sins.

  • 19 [For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.]

  • Abraham is an example to us all of how we must command our children and wives. We are not to plead and beg to get what we want done.

  • 2 Esdras 14:13-15

  • 13 [Now therefore set thine house in order, anreproue thy people, comfort such of them as be in trouble, and now renounce corruption.]

  • In order to set our house in order, we must be commanding. After we have built ourselves and our households up, then we are to go out and help our people to come into this truth and do the same. All of our people are in trouble and need to be comforted by the word of God.

  • Some women believe the relationship is going well as long as she is the one in control. Those that cannot deal with the divine order and leave will become alone.

  • 2 options of an independent woman are to die alone or become a lesbian.

  • 14 [Let go frō thee mortall thoughts, cast away the burdens of man, put off now the weake nature,]

  • The mortal thoughts we need to let go of are the man made traditions and customs that are against the one true God.

  • An independent woman is a mortal/sinful thought.

  • Our people have taken the burdens of the caucasian woman and LGBTQ community and brought them to our own communities.

  • The weak nature is a simp mentality.

  • 15 [And set aside the thoughts that are most heauy vnto thee, and haste thee to flie from these times.]

  • Sirach 33:19-23

  • 19 [Giue not thy sonne, and wife, thy brother and friend power ouer thee while thou liuest, and giue not thy goods to another, lest it repent thee: and thou intreat for the same againe.]

  • Our righteous forefathers did not let anyone have power over them; for example Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, David

  • Lest it repent thee = you begin to regret what you have let be

  • 20 [As long as thou liuest and hast breath in thee, giue not thy selfe ouer to any.]

  • 21 [For better it is that thy children should seeke to thee, then that thou shouldst stand to their courtesie.]

  • You do not want to be in positions where you always have to beg to your children.

  • 22 [In all thworkes keepe to thselfe thpreheminence, leaue not staine in thinhonour.]

  • Preeminence (Google Search) – the fact of surpassing all others; superiority.

  • Synonyms: superiority, supremecy, stature, fame, importance, predominance

  • Not doing this will leave a stain on you.

  • 23 [At the time when thou shalt end thy dayes, and finish thy life, distribute thine inheritance.]

  • When you are about to die, that is when you distribute everything. They do not have to know everything about your accounts.

  • Preeminence is not somehting that is given to the man of the house, it is already ours.

  • *If you wife always has the last word, she does not respect you which also means she cannot submit to you. The same if your wife talks over you in an argument. The women tend to be more respectful in the workplace.

Dealing with the Congregation

  • Sirach 7:4-5

  • [Seeke not of the Lord preheminence, neither of the King the seate of honour.]

  • When you first come into the body, your main goal should not be to have authority over your brothers. Everyone has their place in the body and it may not be exactly where you want to be.

  • 1 Corinthians 12:18 [But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.]

  • Wherever you are in the body, God put you there because it is His will.

  • Matthew 20:20-23 [The two sons, James and John, wanted to be the top disciples on the sides of Christ]

  • [Iustifie not thy selfe before the Lord, and boast not of thy wisedome before the king.]

  • Don’t boast of your wisdom especially if it is with the mind to replace another brother.

  • Our leadership skills and first moment of preeminence begin when we are married. IF you are not married, then the leadership training begins in the congregation.

  • 2 Timothy 2:5 [And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.]

  • When you become a leader, you also have a greater responsibility. If you are deceptive in gaining that authority, you can destroy your brothers and sisters because of the lack of wisdom.

  • James 4:3 [Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.]

  • To ask = to pray

  • Amiss (Google Search) – not quite right; inappropriate or out of place.

  • Synonym: wrong, out of order, incorrect, inappropriate

  • You are out of order if you ask for things for the wrong reasons.

  • Ex. Praying for marriage for just the sex. Or pray for authority so that you can have power.

  • Proverbs 12:8 [A man shall be commended according to his wisdom: but he that is of a perverse heart shall be despised.]

  • To be a man, you must have wisdom in order to command your wife, family, and congregation righteously; else you end up destroying them. The bible is the blueprint for wisdom.

  • If you are not able to guide your wife and family, you will not be able to guide the congregation.

  • 1 Kings 2:2-3

  • [I go the way of all the earth: be thou strong therefore, and shew thyself a man;]

  • I go the way of all the earth means that I am about to die.

  • Sirach 41:3 [Feare not the sentence of death, remember them that haue beene before thee, and that come after, for this is the sentence of the Lord ouer all flesh.]

  • None of us can escape death until after the return of Christ.

  • [And keep the charge of the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and his testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and whithersoever thou turnest thyself:]

  • This is what determines a real man. A man must guide his family by the laws of God. In the world, our men are just boys who must be taught the law in order to become real men.

  • We must study, pray, and apply (the laws of God) in order to become a better husband and leader.

  • 1 Tim 3:5-7

  • [(For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)]

  • You must learn to apply the necessary skills with wisdom so that you can lead the congregation. If you own house is falling, you can do nothing for the congregation. A part of becoming a good man and husband by biblical standards is choosing a decent wife. Those whose wife came with them from the world have more work to do.

  • A wife is an investment, first is a wife, then a mother, and eventually increasing the nation.

  • Those that are not married should learn how to be a husband and the ins and outs of marriage from the leaders around him.

  • When you are married, you are supposed to be on the same team and of one flesh. The wife needs to be in agreement with her husband.

  • [Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.]

  • A novice who is in authority has the tendency to abuse the brothers and sisters in the body. The training begins at home because if you can deal with your wife, you can deal with the issues within the body.

  • Novice (Google Search) – a person new to or inexperienced in a field or situation.

  • Synonyms: beginner, neophyte, newcomer, student, rookie

  • A position of leadership is not easy to maintain.

  • [Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.]

  • You should have a good report not only within the body, but also outside of the body with those in the world. People should know you by your good works that have the source from the scriptures. You must be building a good reputation which those looking in are able to see. You shouldn’t be known by the same sinful actions you did in the past when you were still in the world.

  • Sirach 6:18 [My sonne, gather instruction from thy youth vp: so shalt thou finde wisedome till thine old age.]

  • It is a blessing to come into the truth at a younger age because they have men around them that can guide you. Without guidance, life can quickly pass you by. When much teach our children what is required to be an adult while they are young so when they reach that point in their lives they will be ready.

  • Sirach 25:3 [If thou hast gathered nothing in thy youth, how canst thou finde any thing in thine age?]

  • If we have not used our youth to prepare us to be a man, we will just be like an adult boy. Our body may be grown, but our mentality is still of a child.

  • It is better for a man to have a career than a dead end job. You have to be able to have the ability to grow and continue to make money.

  • Romans 12:5-8

  • [So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.]

  • Although we are many, ultimately we are one body.

  • [Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;]

  • [Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching;]

  • In this truth, we must be patient and remember the Lord will put us where He sees fit. A novice will try to rush and then fail a possibly taking themselves out of the body.

  • [Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.]

  • Sirach 44:4-9

  • [Leaders of the people by their counsels, and learning meet for the people, wise and eloquent in their instructions.]

  • To become a leader is not something that happens overnight. Even though the 144,000 are born leaders, they must still be guided in the right way to go.

  • [Such as found out musical tunes, and reiected verses in writing.]

  • King David wrote the Psalms.

  • [Rich men furnished with abilitieliuing peaceably in their habitations.]

  • They all knew the word of God, but had different attributes.

  • [All these were honoured in their generations, and were the glory of their times.]

  • [There be of them, that haue left a name behind them, that their praises might be reported.]

  • This is what we should think about as we do the work, that our names would not be forgotten.

  • [And some there be, which haue no memorial, who are perished as though they had neuer bene, and are become as though they had neuer bene borne, and their children after them.]

  • For those that left the truth, it would be as if they were never born. Their children will also be forgotten.

  • None of us are here by accident, because the decision was made in the heavens. We must not be slothful in our work and waste the Lord’s time. When we have the ability to learn the scriptures, we must use our time wisely because there are those that will die and never know the truth, but we got mercy.

  • 1 Peter 2:1-2

  • [Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,]

  • [As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:]

  • Milk – Isaiah 28:9 [Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.]

  • We must study this bible daily and hunger for wisdom.

  • Hebrews 5:12-14 [Milk]

  • Deuteronomy 6:1-2,7

  • [Now these are the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments, which the LORD your God commanded to teach you, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go to possess it:]

  • [That thou mightest fear the LORD thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son’s son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.]

  • [And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.]

  • We are to be teaching the children the laws of God. They do not need to know prophecy or dark sayings at that age.

  • Romans 12:2 [And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.]

  • We are not to follow this world because it leads to destruction like drugs and prison. Whether we be old or young, we must transform our mind because we never know when our last day will be.

  • We must first transform ourselves and be the example for our other brothers and sisters on the outside.

  • A part of the transformation is shaking off the negative character traits.

  • Dishonesty, a mean spirit, rude, narcissism, disrespectful, impatient, greedy, unkind, petty, selfish

  • Getting rid of these will make us a good husband, father, and leader

  • 2 Tim 3:1-6

  • [This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.]

  • [For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,]

  • When many of us come into this truth, we are dealing with these characteristics.

  • Men lovers of their own selves (Narcissists) that think everything is about them

  • [Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,]

  • Some people with natural affection do not understand marriage or brotherhood.

  • Trucebreaker (Google Search) – One who violates a truce, covenant, or engagement.

  • Marriage or engagement is a covenant. Our people with break this when the lust they felt for their spouse wears off.

  • False accusers = gossiper

  • Incontinent = lack control of your emotions

  • Fierce = wrath

  • Despisers of those that are good = someone who hates those who are keeping the commandments

  • [Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;]
